In order to provide reasonable accommodations and support for students in all 项目 at 北园大学, the University and students must work together and maintain the following responsibilities.

学生

  • A student will identify him/herself as a student with a disability and in need of accommodations. Traditional undergraduate students should contact the 学生参与部; all other students must notify their program director. This notification must be given at least two weeks in advance of any needed accommodations or 服务s. 这取决于项目的性质, 服务, 或活动, accommodations may take longer or be able to be coordinated in less time.
  • The student must provide information about their disability and the necessity for accommodations. Helpful documentation supportive of this request includes medical records, 心理教育测试, 还有学校记录.
  • A student must meet with a member of the 学生参与部 and/or their program director each semester so that their case may be reviewed and reasonable accommodations determined. Reasonable accommodations are determined on a case-by-case basis.
  • A student will adhere to course content, 学术标准, 政策, and procedures set forth by the professor, 部门, 和/或大学, 所有学生都必须遵守.
  • A student will meet with his/her individual professor to discuss their learning needs and the specific accommodations needed during the course.
  • A student must notify the 学生参与部 and/or their program director if the accommodations and 服务s are not effective.

北园大学

  • The responsibility for accommodations and support at North Park will be carried out through the 学生参与部 for traditional undergraduate students. All other students will work with their program director. The disability access specialist and/or the program director will enlist other 部门s and/or people as needed to help meet the determined reasonable accommodations.
  • The disability access specialist and/or program director will be an advocate and liaison for the student.
  • The disability access specialist and/or program director will notify a student’s professor of the reasonable accommodations for the student to succeed in the course. This is done on a semester-by-semester basis through accommodation letters.
  • The disability access specialist and/or program director will make every attempt to provide reasonable accommodations for students needing learning assistance, 谁有适当的文件.
  • The disability access specialist and/or program director may deny a request for accommodations if the student does not identify a disability according to Section 504/ADA, fails to verify the need for the requested 服务s, or information is not provided in a timely manner.
  • The disability access specialist and/or program director may refuse to provide any accommodation that is inappropriate or unreasonable, including any that pose a direct threat to the health and safety of the individual requesting the accommodation or of others; constitute a fundamental change or alteration of an essential element of a course or program; or pose undue financial or administrative burden on the institution.
